really not needed unless your are fishing in less than 5' deep and heavy weeds...i think newer models have low power mode that does the same thing! i asked this ? years ago at an ice seminar and was told it wasnt needed. spend the $20 on JIGS

 

I have one and when fishing shallow e.g. Mogadore first ice, it is essential. I have and older FL8 that does not have the suppression built in like the new ones.

They are for the older FL-8 Model. Not needed for any other Model.

 

That is correct. I have the Vex FL20 and all you have to do is put in on Low Power Mode.
