Seems like a simple thing, but last year trying to remove the #8 treble stinger on a hair jig with all kinds of things jumping and bouncing around is not easy.
I just unsnapped, put on a new jig and dealt with the hook removal later.

Peerless turned me on to one of these things, bait shops have them, great for steelies and eye balls. I've been to the ER twice because of reef runner hooks, I'm ALOT more careful, If I get a fiesty one in the boat I bust this thing out, problem solved. DON'T use this if you plan on releasing the fish though if you do be careful not to get it in the gills and only put it in against the side of the gill plate.

Looks like a good idea just as long as you don't stumble and run in to the guy next to you:doctor:

The cheapest thing I have found for removing hooks is an old aluminum arrow shaft. Cut a notch in the end of it that a hook can fit in and you have an instant hook removal tool. I will plug fur fish and game magazine for the idea it works great!

I was able to purchase one from TeamCatfish.com. It was less than the one offered by Cablelas. Save around $ 2.00, hey that is another jig you know ;)
It is yellow colored if that makes a difference:D

Man do they have some huge catfish on that site. Just a bunch of biggggg cats.:B

Cut the gills and put the fish in water for a few minutes.

The top fillet is from a fish that has been bled. The bottom is from a non bled fish.

Please note that the belly meat in both cuts glows due to all the PCB's and other assorted waste.:D;):)
