Going to need to replace both my trolling batteries this year.I have a 24 volt system and I use my ele trolling motor first if I can.Want some good batteries but don't want to break the bank either.Been looking around and it seems some of the optima ones have a less reserve time than some others and I was told that the reserve time was the most important thing to look at so let's here it give,me your in put please.

Hey Bigmtman i can tell you ive used them all and the new Sears plantinum are the best batteries hands down. I used them last year and was amazed how much power they had and i was hardly using any juice fishing all day on my terrova. Even in current on a river on a 7 speed i still had two bars at a end of a trolling day it was amazing . Them may cost a little more but well worth the money for peace of mind. If you have any questions let me know. Gary Zart Blue Dolphin

I have neve used the Walmart batteries so I cannot comment on how good they are. That said they only go to a series 29. I use series 31 Crown batteries. I get them at Manda's. He is an OGF sponser and has a great price and will stand behind every battery he sells.

I second what Gary said about those Platnums, I was going to get those optima batteries until Tom at Vics talked me into them and I have not been disappointed at all. I troll with my Terrova all day as well and (sometimes 2-3x between charges ) still have juice to go! Cant go wrong with those.

I'm ready to try a different make.
Always had great performance from Trojan batteries, but this last pair have only lasted two years. At over $100.00 ea. I've always gotten 4yrs or more out of them before. Next spring I plan to replace them.

I've had good luck with Optima batteries, but they are 4 and 5 years old. I asked a similar question on another forum, and had about 30 replies that said go with the Sears AGM. Most of those guys were off shore saltwater, so I'd say if they trust them 50+ miles out, they must be good. They also claimed the optimas have had some kind of quality control issue, as they aren't nearly as good as they used to be.

I also have been using Crown Batteries. The Walleye One series have been working great and not had any problems with them. If you can fit them, I would get the 31 series size. Its also good to support the local companys. They also make vehicle, marine starting batteries and deep cycles. Check out there web site, CrownBattery.com

I have always gotten 5+ years out of the Walleye One batteries. I use them in two different boats and bought a Crown for the truck as well. I needed a battery for the car asap and bought one from Walmart. I noticed it was made in Korea. Not only are Crown's top notch batteries, but I'm glad it keeps local people working.
