Spoons - treble vs single hook?

Curious as to opinions for hooks on spoons. Ran a few spoons this year with rather large single hook as opposed to the standard treble. Seem to provide better hook up (more often behind jaw bone) and less lost fish after hook up. Just a fluke or does anyone else find the same. Thinking about spending some time in the upcoming off season replacing hooks. If so does anyone have a suggestion for single replacement hooks for trolling spoons?

I agree with your assessment when the bite is 'normal.' For sure you will loose a lot less fish (IMO) than with trebles. But when the bite is lite, you have a better chance of snagging the buggers with trebles.

I have a box of similar spoons rigged with single hooks, and another with trebles. That way you can make the change on the fly without trying to switch hooks in a bounce boat.

I can not speak for single hooks/spoons for walleyes as I have become a wormaholic and no long use spoons for that species. That being said, I find the single hook spoons for steelhead to be the way to go. Also, catching a lot of sheeps while steelheading, they are much easier to release with a single hook then when they have all 3 barbs imbedded in them.
