Anyone have issues with the treble hooks on small stinger spoons? I have had a few of the hooks bend and one break. Also seems like I am dropping fish on the small trebles anyone upgrade there treble hooks to bigger ones?

I love OMG such great shared information, I just bought 25 treble hooks to replace on my Stingers due to a lot breaking. After reading this tread I'm scrapping the idea of replacing using treble hooks. I'm going with the single hook, I believe I might have a few less hook but I also think I will release more fish unharmed. Last time out I caught and released small fish 2 to 1 with a surprising amount being 8-10" I cringed removing
the trebles at the damage I was doing to these fish not to mention the extra time out of the water. I wasn't aware of Siwash hooks, these will make replacement so much quicker without messing with those snap rings. Ill take some ***** and cut them off as I change spoons.

I have been replacing all the hooks on Michigan Stinger Spoons. A majority of their spoons I have bought in 2016 thru 2017 had hooks that broke. Something has changed since the owner passed and his wife took over. I now buy their spoons and replace the hook when I take them out of the package. I now use red #4 VMC treble hooks that way I know which hooks have been changed. I figure my odds are better using treble hooks then single hooks.

Am I crazy to think if I’m buying a product I shouldn’t have to change anything? I use dreamweaver spoons and don’t have to spend more money fixing them. Would you buy a new truck and be happy if you had to buy new tires cause the ones that come with the truck were bad?

I think Stinger has s solid reputation for catching fish , for $4.99 they should come with high quality hooks. I bet they cost .25 to manufacture . If Dream Weaver had the reputation as Stinger for catching fish they would out sell 5 to 1. Next batch of spoons I’ll try Dreamweaver.

The same company that makes dipsys made these flutter spoons, and they came with a single hook. They catch fish and no lost fish, and are so much easier on the fish.I hate when small fish get all three hooks,it's hard to get them out without tearing the mouth really bad.
