Buddy of mine found me a reel from a church garage sale for only 10 dollars, turned out to be a Pflueger AKRON reel Model No.1894 L Made in the U.S.A. The reel was very dirty and dusty and had a ball of old line on it when I received it today. After cleaning it off with Ardent Reel Cleaner and greasing the worm bar and oiling it up..It turned out to still be in Very good shape, even the clicker still works loudly. One mans junk is another mans treasure..another new reel to put in my collection. The reel also came with a rod as well but there was no way of saving the rod.

Gotta love Garage Sales

Looks like a good reel to set in your den or on a desk as a show piece. I have a few older reels that I'm saving for such a purpose. Just need to get a big enough place first. lol.
Yeah Im gonna have to put it in a showcase or in a shoebox haha...the cool thing is that reel was made in Akron, Ohio I believe after looking it up.

You should email that dude from Bassmaster magazine that writes the "What's It Worth" column and maybe you can get in the next issue :) Cool looking reel.

Use it use it use it! My dad gave me his old Mitchell reel when I was little. First and only spinning reel I neede or used till he figured out it was better than the new reels he was buying. I gave it back when I went into the military and will have to wait till its part of his estate before I get it back!

Old don't mean broke! Most of the older gear was heavy duty and built like a fishing "wench" anyway!
