Fished Cleveland Saturday with SellFish, Mesterics, and my buddy Dennis Owen. Dennis has boat at Whiskey Island, they held their annual walleye tourney Saturday and we won last year so Dennis asked us to fish it again with him this year. We left at 7am to 58 FOW north of the Rocky River Dump. Set out lines at 7:15 and immediately had big fish coming to the net shortly after the last rod was in the water. Had over a 40 pound bag by the time 9:15 (only upgrade 2 slightly after this time) rolled around. Ran 3 oz inlines 70-100 back with 70 and 100 being best but 75,80,85 and 90 also taking some fish all at 1.5-1.7 north troll was best but did take a 29 1/2 on a south troll on slight turn. Ended the day going 15 for 19 if I'm not mistaken. I tied up some new spinners for the day using two #2 and a treble on the bottom first time using a triple hook setup, needless to say I'm in love, they hook and hold fish much better than a double hook set up, I'm converted now. Best colors without a doubt pink lemonade copper back, pink panties antifreeze, reverse muffin took the 29 1/2 and the winner blade was antifreeze watermelon (took most tourney fish), chartreuse beads across the board.
Has a slight scare at 12:15 (always start early prior to have to heading in just in case) when I went to start the boat and my starting battery was dead, Blue Dolphin came to the rescue with some jumper cables, so I jumped my starting battery from one of my 3 trolling batteries, worst case I would have just pulled cables this made it much easier so THANKS GARY!
We won the tourney with 6 fish @ 166 inches (I think) and Scott pulled a toad at 30 1/2 inches for big fish as well. Great day on the water and had a absolute ball with my boys, team work was at its highest today, high fives were plentiful as well as the laughs, lake conditions couldn't have been better either. Good job to Lightman & Crew for 1st in CYC and Rbud, Kbud for 3rd.
Can't wait to get back out and get em while the getting is good. :T
