one thing I think of is you can run more lines with big boards. you have enough releases so you don't have to bring them in all day. you can use tru trips on big boards where your limited with inline boards. if you have 6 people thats 12 lines you can have out. with big boards it helps get 12 lines in the water. if you have a fish on one of the outside lines just let out lines until there where you want them then put the line you brought in on the inside. you cover so much more water with big boards. thats just a few off the top of my head. I use shower rings and the light rubber bands. if one of the rubber bands gets stretched out I know something is on that line.

Big boards with three boards (trips) pull ALOT harder than a board with two.

Mine are made with two boards about 30" long and 12" high bolted together with 1/2" all thread. Their weight makes them pull quite nice. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to add some pool noodle over the all thread to increase flotation / visibility. I also run 18" tall flags on each of them.

It all depends on how they are built. It doesn't matter 2 or 3. The type of material they are made of, how they are connected together, how long each board is and many many other factors determines how hard they pull. The advantage of triples is you can make them pull hard and farther up on the boat, and turn better than a double. The build is everything!. I run triples as do almost all the charter boats in my area.

The harder your big boards pull the easier it is to release the line from the clip. Many charters are running 5 40 try trips a side, and using 800# tow line. The lower your boards run in the water the harder they pull, so adding wt will make any board run deeper and put more tension on the tow line. Good luck
