I've been debating on buying one for awhile now but just don't know much about them, I was hoping some of you on here could help advise. Is there really any advantage to using one or is more just for the fun of it (would be neat seeing fish hit the lure). Does the camera spook fish if you're jigging around it. Hows the images on lakes like mosquito or pymy? Can you slow drift with it in open water or is it more of a stationary thing. I'm guessing like anything else the more you pay the better unit you get but any advise would be helpful.

I want all the same answers. I have ordered and cancelled two different cheap units from Amazon because I'm pretty sure that the huge collection of five-star reviews they both have were written by people who do not speak English as their first language, just weird little idiosyncrasies in the writing.

So I have an aqua view micro, and one of the cheap ones from amazon. I actually think I like the one from amazon better. I am fairly new to ice fishing this will be my 3rd year. The camera is really fun at times, I just got my ice ducer for my helix this year.

Swone if you wanna meet up when we get ice I would gladly bring bother cameras so you can play with them and maybe teach me a thing or 2 on the sonar/vex on my helix.

I find mine pretty helpful when crappie fishing as long as there is at least a foot of visibility. I fish a lot of tree tops and fish tend to gather around them. I mark them on my sonar an drop the camera down to see what kind they are. It doesn’t seem to spook them. Unless the water was really clear like Cumberland or dale hollow, you do have to have camera close to see them. Fishing those clear lakes, I think it’s a great tool, although not remotely close to being as helpful as sonar.
Also, l had to make a larger sun shield for the monitor.....the glare is terrible without it.

I haven't gone anywhere without my vex for the last 15 years. Actually, I drove to Mosquito from Akron once without it on accident and immediately turned around and came home. Didn't even really consider going out without it. I want to get one, but I really don't need it, but I keep reading all the posts of people talking about how much it helps them scout for fish, and fine-tune their presentation while watching fish react. What kind/model do you have Harry1959?

I've had a AQ Micro for a few years now. Hadn't used it too much due to the hassle of using it with my Vex. Typically I only used it whenI was stationed in my shanty. Now that I've mounted it to my Vex, I plan on using it alot more more for identifying fish species, structures, weed lines & fish sizes.
