Hello.

I plan on fishing Thursday and Friday and was wondering if anyone has knowledge of water conditions at either lake due to the recent rain..do either of these lakes get all muddy when there are significant rainfall amounts? I am trying to determine which lake to try...bass fishing is first option...weather looks to be improving each of the next 4-5 days finally..

The west end of West branch is no wake. There's always guys fishing out of canoes and yaks and the smaller jon boats. I was out Saturday immediately after the storms moved out. The water conditions weren't too bad closer to the bridge. The other half was chocolate milk. Its just really high. I picked up a 42" musky trolling through the chocolate milk and debris, so i know water conditions don't bother them, and that's all i fish for, so i can't comment on the bass bite.

We used gold, chartreuse, and tiger walleye harness. Boat speed approximately 1 to 1 1/2 miles per hr. and part of the time we drifted. We are planning on going back on Friday. Hope this helps good luck which ever lake you go to.

I don't know about West Branch because I don't fish it but I do fish Mosquito. I'm not a bass fisherman but I know a lot of guys bass fish there and they have quite a few bass tournaments there, so there must be a pretty decent bass population. If you don't do any good on the bass, there is plenty of good bluegill, crappie and walleye fishing.

W branch is hit and miss on the bass , we were out a week ago and managed two small ones and a walleye, try along the dam for smallies, you probably will get into a Muskie while casting for bass, hit the bays in jay lake next to the campground , even launch your boat there.

I was out yesterday and water was stained with maybe 2" visibility but mosquito's water seems to be stained all the time. I caught 6 eyes and kept 2. The other four were 12-13" and under. I again concentrated on 88 stumpfield with harnesses. I trolled a storm deep firetiger crank and caught a 27" channel as well.
