Plan on hitting West Branch this weekend. Have noticed the hump out in front of the shelter house at the East Boat Ramp being fished. Good walleye area. Steely, you must get to Arnies often being a Rootstown local. I have never had a bad meal there. Give their grilled chicken a try along with the peanut butter pie. Getting myself hungry. Ive gotten them off vibs last year in 20 fow at night. Nice when she is glassy. Lewzer if the winds east use the east ramp. West winds use the west ramp. Hope you guys get them! :B

I was at WB Wednesday. Got the boat all ready to launch and when I got to the ramp the wind was howling so bad there was no way I could put in without a second person.
The wind was coming directly east and the waves would have crashed my boat against the concrete ramp or the the rocks around it. No matter how bad I wanted to get on the lake I didn't want to chance a nice hole in the hull and packed it up.
I'm going again Saturday morning if anyone is interested. Dark and early (no sun at 6:00AM).

West branch is still free of ice from the west boat ramp to the dam. Light ice that is breaking up in the warmmer weather from RT. 14 to Rock Spring Road. Coach

Live just a couple of miles from the West boat ramp and go there every day to check conditions. No ice yet except at Rt.14 by Arnies Steak House (great food if you have never been there). Coach

 

I hope it holds up for us!(weather) It doesnt look good for ice but we are in Ohio. Was on Ice last year this time but not fer long. Two years in a row for bad ice fishin.

 

Not sure if it has ice on it or not Jim. Haven't been there since 11-28-06. Maybe someone that has driven by will speak up. Bobby has me all geared up for the ice this year. I've only been ice fishing once on Long lake about 30 years ago and didn't catch anything but a cold.

 

I haven't been there in a long while and wasn't sure if it had frozen over yet? I'm just not sure what the cold weather and nights have produced Steve.
There hasn't been any reports lately from any lakes, and I don't drive by any ponds.

I trolled for 5 hours with no hits. Alot of bait on the bottom around the holes.

 

Sorry I meant next thursday. Looking at the long range forecast ICE may prevent me from going. If water remains open I will go. Even if I have to wear my ice armor suit to keep warm. Get tired of waiting to hit the ice so I need a wet line fix bad.

Might go down and bother those crappie this thursday weather permitting. If anyones out in that area stop by for a chat. My user id is on my 13 foot wrangler boat.

Probably try spider rigging if not too windy. Otherwise be still fishing with slip bobbers.

 

Some were near the bridge in 17' and some were on the edge of the old rail bed in 14'.
