Has anyone tried tying like big streamers on heavier jig hooks or bass hooks for like a T rig, to be cast with spinning or conventional gear? I could see a Texas rigged rabbit zonker “lure” being effecting and easier to cast after it soaks up water with conventional tackle. I know, this is sacrilege, but it could be a fun experiment. I could see some bronze goddess jigs tied on 1/8 oz jig heads being a good match for river wading too. The heavier baits would be easier to snag on the bottom though, and losing hand tied flies is never fun. I love fly fishing but I will never disavow spinning gear; sometimes spinning gear is more efficient and flat out just a better tool for the job (making it more fun for me in certain situations), IE with deeper water/heavy current/lots of brush/trees/rocks. I know there are hair jigs and marabou jigs already but I don’t see why the next step up won’t work. Food for thought!
