Truck Completely Submerged In Water!

I stopped at North Res. on Sunday evening and noticed a group of people hanging out around the ramps.....and a tow truck. Apparently, somebody backed onto the ramp to load their jon boat onto their truck bed but forgot to use the emergency brake and the truck coasted right into the lake once he exited the vehicle to load the boat. The truck was completely submerged but the headlights were still burning bright! I watched them try and pull it out with a standard tow truck but it would not budge due to the water weight in the truck. When I left they were trying to get a hold of larger tow truck.....I thought they would need a wrecker. I didn't see them pull it out but I am sure they did one way or another. Lesson Learned: Use the emergency brake on all ramps.

I've seen this happen at our ramps before. One time it was a Jeep; when it was pulled out and they opened the door, several fish came flopping out with the water! Can't remember what they were, but I remember thinking that's a different technique to catch fish. LOL. On a more serious note, I agree, always set your emergency brake. Fish Safe.

same thing here. i was up to manistee mi a few years ago. but there problem was the driver. it was a motorhome, and they started to pull out and it rolled backwards. but instead of giving it gas they would hit the brake. then they did the same thing a few times. by this time they are half way in the water. then they got out and walked up on the ramp, and it took off back in the water with the head lights sticking out still burning.LOL. but not funny. they had to get one of those big semi tow trucks to get it out. and it took a long time.

I saw a similar happening At Mogadore Res. '79 or '80, it was 5:30 am & was the morning of the "Coke is it" tourny. and my soon to be wife & I were at the Lansinger ramp getting the boat ready to launch, and the fellows ahead of us were putting in,,,,they were'nt really ready to launch, but did anyways,,,,and when the boat didn't come free from the trailer, the driver got out of the truck ,slammed the door shut and said "I thought you said we were all ready"??? about then the truck rolled in the lake until all that was above the water was the very front of the hood......the other guy said,"doesn't look you're too ready either"!!!!The truck, the boat, the dog, everything was under water!!!! I had a chain, but two wheel drive,F-150,390,4-speed,& gravel, wasn't gonna do it, needless to say, these "Good ol Boys, started gettin REAL LOUD!! SOOO,, I snapped my trailer on,& went to 43,called a tow truck for those guys, and we launched at 43. when we went by a 1/2 hour later, they were still pretty loud! EMERGENCY BRAKE!!! VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! ----->>>>>sonar<<<<<-----
