I will be out on Portage fishing Friday and Saturday. It will be my first time out this year. I live right down the road from the lake but work was in the way. Has anyone been catching any crappie yet out in turkeyfoot by the state park. Will anyone else be out those days. I will post how I do after.

It's always nice having a fishing partner, don't know many people around this area since I moved here. I used to live close to Mosquito and that's all I would fish :B
Depending on work, etc, I may fish Rex Lake just around the corner from the new State Park boat launch on Saturday for crappies. If I do, I'd be happy to let you know how I'm doing.
I'll probably be puttin around in the boat tomorrow. Thinking about hitting the main chain of lakes (turkeyfoot,rex,and maybe west res) I'll also try to throw in an update while I'm out
I didn't get to Rex until Sunday afternoon. Water temp still a little low for crappie. Fished it anyway and didn't get anything. I didn't see much of anything -- bluegills, shad, minnows -- in close. I don't like the look of the lake bottom. Still a lot of algae. I think that's a little late for this time of years, but with the winter we had, maybe not.
