went to oxbow with my 9yr old son yesterday about 6:30p.m. and fished until about 9p.m., he caught 6 largemouth bass i caught 5 and lost 3, they were a pound to a pound and a half. all C&R. we also caught a few nice crappie also C&R. we were using berkley finesse worms in black/chartuse, with a 1/0 size hook on 6lb test. it was my first time fishing oxbox in about 10 yrs, i use to fish there all the time when i worked at the powertrain plant in Defiance. i plan on taking my son back several times this yr. I also used spinnerbaits, small crankbaits, and suspending minnow baits without any luck.

Oxbow is a good lake for bass and crappies, the gills that i could see were a bit small, but with all the fallen timber in that water im sure there sre some large ones there. are you in the toledo area.

have you tried the Lake La Su An wildlife area, they are wonderful for gills. i think you have to call and set up a date for fishing there.
yeah but we decided it was'nt worth the drive for that small of a limit. Plus its hard to keep a kid interested without using live bait
