Well, I received my two new Tekota A's. Haven't used them yet but here is my comparison.
* spool size and capacity is the same
* clicker is somewhat loader
* it is clearly faster. Should be better for clearing lines and boards and for fast running fish like salmon. Not sure about hard pulling musky baits etc
* overall size. Only a quarter inch lower and its actually a little wider than old version. They look a lot smaller but i measured them
* the handle is actually a lot longer. I don't think these will free up much space if any in the rod locker.
* The numbers on the line counter are much smaller. They are harder to see than the original version for sure.

Attention musky trollers

One additional observation. If you are a musky troller and use down easters rod holders (most mostly fisherman do) the new tekota hangs up in a few spots.
* One is if the real is seated back in the holder the line roller guide will jam on rod holder

If the reel is seated all the way forward the rod holder can dig into the spool of line when the spool is full.
