Im looking to get a new cockpit cover made for my Throphy. Does anyone have any spots to go around the Sandusky Port Clinton area? Goods work at a fair price.

I tried to post in the lounge but no replies

Thanks

All the canvas places I know of up by the lake in that area are going to be on the expensive side. I go to Raber's Tarp Shop on Rt. 545. A little further drive but worth the trip. Eli has always treated me right. If interested PM and I can give you driving directions.

Wanderin - There is at least one but probably more canvas/tarp shops in the Amish country of Middlefield. I'll try to find a name and address for you. I had a bearded guy make a new towing cover (blue) for my bowrider some years back. Much thicker material than the factory cover from Parma Marine.

I don't remember the name of this shop, but It was next to the old Portage Entry Marine Building. Not the one where the Jet is now. The one over near Marblehead. Those guys are artists when it comes to canvas. They made leaning post cover and T-Top wrap around cover for my whaler. Very impressed with the quality of work. It has held up really well over the years.

I know it would be about a 45 min drive but right on route 250 about 2 miles before you get into Ashland there is a Amish tarp shop there.I have used them for years and my buddie just had his boat done there also. His tarps cost $1600 5 years ago in Vermillion and the tarp shop did a better job for $500.Well worth the drive.

Know of another quality and very reasonable place to have one done but would be a long drive for you. It's outside Dover,Ohio in Dundee. Erbco Custom Covers. 8560 Nebraska Rd. NW 330-852-1445 Dundee,Ohio 44624. May be worth the long drive for the money you save and the work is top notch! When I get my boat to that point it'll be going there for a cover. It's in Amish country also.

Had the side curtains done for my Grady White by Rayco Canvas - Darrell Turner is the guy I dealt with - great job - did the work at the Marina in Sandusky - has a full service operation including mobile unit - very good pricing - 330-472-7700

I'll stump for Rayco also. His base is behind his home near Randolph, Ohio(Portage Cty and about two miles from me!) but he has a big van(complete shop on wheels) he takes to all the marinas. Give him a call(number in Guiddo's post below. Great work and reasonable.

Erbs in Amish Country. I stopped in in the fall and scheduled my 21 foot sea hunt hard top to get eisen glass surounding the cockpit and falling to the floor. Front curtains, Side curtains, all seperate from the aft piece. He quoted me around 300.00. I have had others tell me this cost them close to 1000 for around the same size boat. When I go I am hoping he can make me a couple 36 inch drift socks for a good price as well. It is close to Trail, between Mt. Hope and Walnut Creek. He is busy, you must schedule. It may be worth the drive, I'll be making it from Macedonia.

CM Tarp is an Amish fellow! He taught the Erbs how to do it. They are second cousins. And so are the rest of the Amishs. I am serious about this! Heck, I might be their second cousin too.
All I can really tell you this guy is as good and cheaper and he has no backlog. He can make drift socks too. He taught the Erbs how to make them. :)

Wanderin Eyes: Hope you had luck with your search.

Just to add a name to the list for others that may be looking for canvas/upholstery work...give Joe's Tarp Shop a call, 330-421-3708. He is located in Sullivan as well (near Millers Upholstery). Got a great price from him and although I have not yet gotten the seats back, I saw some of his other work and it looked great.

$630 bucks to redo all the seats, side panels and two side cushions. :)

Called this guy a week ago and never heard back from him, does anyone know if he is still in the business??
