Anyone know where to find one of the old Permaguide maps of Mogadore.
They showed sunken bridges, foundations, etc.. and although not extremely accurate they gave you a good idea of where to look.

Oh, if I can't get an old Permaguide I'd be more than happy to sit down over lunch and coffee (my treat of course) and have someone knowledgable mark a map for me! (leeabu are you listening?!)

I am listening! If you have to work half as hard as I did to find these spots, you will also be less willing to pass them on to others. The result will be less fishing pressure on these spots for both of us. Here is a big tip. Take any map of Mogadore and a ruler and a pencil. Place the ruler on the roads and draw a line across the lake. Google earth is very helpful here to as you can still see the old road beds throught the trees. Bridges will be over channels where the deepest water is. House foundations will be near the old road beds on high spots (shallow water). Every road bed is clearly visible on the shore where it enters and leaves the water especially in the spring and fall with no leaves on the trees. There is only one exception to this on a road bed I just found last fall and I am still developing.

mrphish42...Thank you!

Ripley...They are not in business any longer (thanks anyway).

The Permaguides are kinda crude but offer a little more info than the state maps and while not always right on they can often give you a good start on finding stuff.

leeabu...thanks for the tips!!!

As much as I'm out there now I'll find what I'm looking for! Nothing beats time on the water. Been fishing that place since I was kid, too many of those years beating the bank like Nip though!!!;):D

I've learned a bunch in just the last two weeks!:)

I just spent 5 hours out there today working on structure - deep mostly and some shallow. I found an old house foundation and some other sweet details. I'm not telling where. :D

I stopped and picked up a dozen or so maps from the guy who makes and distributes these maps a year or so ago. He didnt look to good then and said he was having health probs and did not get out to his stores like he used to. He lives in canton and does keep the maps at his house. God help us if he ever has a fire. He did tell me that all the spots on the maps were from word of mouth that he was able to coraborate from many differant sources. Someone is refilling the empty store displays so he or his family are still keeping these maps updated.
hope this helped. as far as finding what your lookig for all I have to say is research and on water discovery. The new electronics help a lot. side and down imaging is worth every penny when it come to finding structure.
later ya'll

While doing a ggogle for permaguide I found an obit for the owner from 2009.

snakecharmer; thanks for the headsup on that obit. Like I said he didnt look real good back then. At least we know someone is following in his footsteps to keep the permaguide maps getting out to the public. To whomever it is we thank you and for sure our condolences.

What Leeabu said.
Use Bing maps "bird's eye view", also pull up the old topo maps from 1905(google it-I don't have the address at home).
Did that for LaDue- the old road bed in front of the boathouse doesn't go straight across the lake! It goes straight to the old bridge and then veers south.
