I'm a novice at walleye behavior but last weekend I caught females near shore in the lake that had rock hard eggs and did not appear ready yet. To me that would suggest there are more to come. There are usually waves of them that come in, just like bass...... some spawn sooner, some later. I do think its clear you are at the very least in the 2nd half of the run. BFG is typically a good predictor and source of info on the subject so I would yield to his expertise over mine, but thats my guess.

 

I say we get another push of 16-17"ers. It wont be a huge push, but enough to last us a few weeks. But if we get massive amounts of rain next week or shortly thereafter that blows the river up again, GAME OVER

 

You guys think we got a new run of fish?

 

Guys let me tell u if u didn't fish u missed out. We CRUSHED them Fri and sat. Never have I caught so many big jacks. We had a 4 man boat limit Fri in 3 hrs. Went back out in the afternoon for 2 more hrs and threw back another 15 or so. Sat started a little slow but we soon found them. My buddy's boat and mine limited in 2 hrs. 6 guys. Smallest fish on my boat was 24" with 1 being a spawned out female. Seen and released plenty of hard females. I'm telling u guys a HUGE push of fish came in with this rain. We caught 35+ in 4 hrs. You'll catch fish anywhere you park tomorrow. This is the peak run of fish. Been ok last two weeks (I fish 3-4 days during the week) but the fish are really piling in now.

 

What u use?

Depends where u sit as to what weight u throw. Orleans I was using 1 oz. I use pink on pink most of the time but I think any color would have worked.

Fish will be there. If not straight out in front of Schroeder's fish below the heavy rapids behind the sand bar. Maybe 1 or 2 in there!

I usually put in at the camp grounds and fish the hole right there along Bluegrass. Only way I go east is if I'm following someone that knows the river. I'll try there and if need be I'll throw the waders on and go somewhere else if I have to.

 

I was there from the 29th of March till the 5th of April and did well but haven't taken a shot at this new push yet. Hope to rip some lips tomorrow!

 

Shows what I know! Great job guys. Get 'em while you can, because I do know one thing for certain, with water temps approaching 55 degrees it'll happen fast for this bunch!

Yes I did. Even at that they still smoked most of the other teams trying to best them. I know both of them were slightly embarassed
