I want to put new line on a couple of my spinning reels. Mono has quite a bit of "memory". I was wondering about the newer lines on the market. Smaller diameter than mono but what about castability? What brand works best on open-faced reels? I'm thinking about 14# for some bass fishing.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Berkley Nanofil and Sunline SX1 is what I'll be using this year. Both behave perfectly on a spinning reel. Nanofil is a fused line that is very smooth and slick and casts a country mile. It will have an extremely small amount of memory coming off the reel. SX1 is a braid that I'll be using for fishing a worm. Comes close to the Nanofil in casting distance and has zero memory.

I agree with Shag....Nanofil IS MADE for spinning reels...I use the 17lb on mine, due to fishing cover and rocks. It gives me the strength I need, plus sensitivity, and no stretch!
You need to use a double Palomar to tie on lures due to the slickness and to increase knot strength.
Most Braids are stronger than the rated strength...Nanofil seems to be rated perfectly AT THE KNOT! ALSO...There IS NOTHING that casts as far as this line.
Good Fishing!

Maybe Nanofil is better than when it first came out but Ive heard mixed reviews on the stuff...I either have Berkleys Fireline or Fluruocarbon on all my spinning reels. Im trying the Fireline with a Fluro leader on one of my rods.

I have yet to have an issue with Nanofil. When it first came out there was a warning about the knots slipping because it's so slick but I started using the double palomar right away and have not had any issues. Besides getting unbelievable casting distances this stuff is the most well behaved line I have ever used on a spinning reel. If you have been scared off by the mixed reviews you should test it for yourself.

Memory,is the first to go! Oh My Bad! I was thinking about Myself:p.When in fact line memory is worst.I do like the Nanofil, just not the price as with most quality products you pay for what you get or at least hope so.
