Where are the best spots to fish for walleye and perch in Lima/Allen county? I just moved to the area and will probably start fishing Labor Day weekend. I don't have a boat, so spots friendly for bank fishing would be appreciated!

On the east side of town there is Milan's on Reservoir Road right across from a parking lot for Lost Creek Reservoir. Best if you're going to there, Fergusons, Metzgers, or Lima Lake. On the west side of town is a bait store on Kemp Road just north of Bressler's Reservoir. It is a barn in the back yard. They both sell minnows, worms, leeches, and craws. If in town, Lom's Bait on North Main St. just north of Lombardo's sells bait. Not sure what all besides worms he sells.

Try any reservoirs, fish the drop offs. Put a sinker on the bottom, 3 inches up from that an Aberdeen hook, another 3 inches up put another Aberdeen hook. Cut live minnows in half, a half for each hook. Cast as far out as you can. Raise your rod tip slowly to 12oclock, reel slowly as you lower the rod back to 9 o'clock. Take your time telling in, give the perch time to watch and hit the bait. I like to use a 9ft crappie pole from the bank. When you get back to the riprap rocks reel the line in to prevent snags.
