i was in the grand today just playing around. It seemed to be the watewr was still real low and to warm for them to travel up any distance away from the lake what do you think?

 

to warm and shallow out here by the vermilion for them to come yet. out east starts way before we get any over this way anyways.

 

You'd be surprised. Last year I had a friend hook one on the sunken breakwall in fairport in August fishing for smallies. They'll start to congregate in numbers around the mouths very shortly. Also, the river should move up a little on the flow charts with this rain that we've had. Looks like more later in the week too!

 

yeah i believe you the past couple of years I've caught them in the late weeks of august in the chagrin as far up as the park on reeves road I was also fishin for some smallies. They should start to come in with some numbers here shortly as long as we have the colder nights and some more rain fall

I see some leaves starting to change and can feel it in the air. The heated discussions have been ongoing in the Erie forum, even with all that fishable water!

 

The fish are starting to stage in PA. I had a few friends tel me as they were coming in off of the lake the water color was turning black with fish at the mouths of trout run and walnut. Its just a matter of a few weeks before we start seeing decent fishing again in ohio rivers. The mouths are fun fishin as well

 

what is the best approach for fishing for them in the mouth's of rivers?

 

Try using spoons, vibez, I know alot of people that still float sax and mini foos. Right now with the water clear use silvers and blues as the water muddies switch to your brighter colors.
