I was out there too yesterday, bass fishing though. Only got a couple dinks from 3-7pm.

I know EXACTLY where you were and you are 100% accurate in your description! Sorry the fishing slowed down for you.

 

Got into a few, maybe a dozen, all between 7" and 9". Way slower than even a week ago, hell I was just killin' 'em on Monday! I think they took one bucket to many?

 

i waded across from 43 lot and in about three hrs i got about 40 crappie this morning, found a small area they were in, saw the crowds at the lansinger ramp area ,those guys are keeping everthing and anything with none going back when i was there earlier in the week. this coming colder weather may send them out deeper, if it does get colder..

 

Yeah they sure do keep it all don't they? I don't keep anything for various reasons and boy have I caught some hell on Lansinger these last few weeks for throwing them back and not giving them away!

 

Catch and release is a personal choice. it irritates the hell out of me when people give a guy the business for throwing them back. CATCH YOUR OWN!!!!

 

I couldn't agree more. catch and release is a personal choice. as long as odnr or akron decides that mogadore could stand to lose some of it's smaller crappie there is no harm in the people keeping them. personally I hate cleaning teeny weenies. people should not cry about someone throwing them back either...either way, whatever.....I dont care what town the fisherpeople are from...............

I've got into more than one conversation with individuals at Mogodore about C&R. It is an anglers choice and if you don't like it, well, catch your own. Personally I love to keep throwing them back just to get those guys going sometimes!

 

Yep, personal choice all the way, and if your not breaking the law or poaching I couldn't care less either way. Just cracks me up sometimes to see a guy with two buckets full still fishing see me throw mine back and ask if he can have them instead lol, I mean really how many fish is enough? Oh well to each his own I suppose

 

I dont like cleaning more than 20 or so...I had to learn the hard way. after just getting back into fishing, a buddy and myself caught 68 gills. they took longer to clean than to catch.. I pretty much just stop (or swap) after 20 or so. No matter how hard I try, there are alwys a couple that seemed bigger when i put them in the bucket:F

not a chance. they may have moved,but mogadore has plenty of crappie still left. they are all over that resevior.

 

I do alot of catch and release.

It's good seeing from these posts that other people do the same !

Sure there's alot of panfish, all over the lake, but working a certain area
it's good to put some back when bucket fulls are being taken out day after
day.

Have read articles where there are down cycles even for panfish.

Some people don't know the definition of conservation in regards to alot
of different things, not just fishing.

Some people like to fish for the pure entertainment of the sport,
that's really what it's all about, why jeopardize the very thing u love to
do.

 

Moggie is chock full of those 8" to 8.5" crappie, every year it's the same, 2 weeks ago, my son and I literally threw back 150 crappie this size, in order to keep about 30 that were over 9 inches. Moggie is not known for consistently giving up slab crappie, but makes up for it in shear numbers of smaller ones, don't know why it is this way, but it is.
Why must a persons race come into play when describing who's fishing? Would you call it yankeetown, or rednecktown, or negrotown, or mexicotown, if these folks were fishing there? Is there an issue with people from China, who has the same right as everyone else to fish there, and due to no size limits, or bag limits can keep whatever they catch legally? I seen more crappie caught on the opposite shore from lanzinger, as well as other areas of the lake where there is no shorefishing access, than what is caught on lanzinger. Doesn't bother me a bit. The only time I would complain is if there were a huge number of spawner females 13 plus inches being taken out in buckets.

I think we all know the answer to that one. For a C&R fisherman, I do not give a hoot what anyone else is taking as long it's within the law--and I see people post stringers of fish here all the time. I for sure could care less what race they are and certainly would not be making less than positive comments like calling a group of them "chinatown". Sometimes people on here disgust me. If you wouldn't say such things to peoples faces, don't post your sht here and cower behind your username!

 

Before this gets out of hand, let's please keep my thread civil and on the topic of the Mogadore crappie bite and the effects of keeping fish vs catch and release.

 

I believe in keeping this post civil, Hopefully others will refrain from using offensive descriptions and stick to the basic description of people catching fish, without bringing up ones ethnicity in an offensive way.

It is definitely offensive and even more when he changed words to "hog trough". There's always someone think he's just morally above everyone else or every other races than himself. Think about talking of black people or hispanic that way on tv and what responses you will get. I once back in March was on skeeter causeway among other people catching some nice crappie and then three men came next to me 5' away whipping their rod next to my ear, casting right in front of me and crossing my line multiple times, well they are definitely not chinese.
