Keel trolling weights

I read on a previous thread that their were dive curves on BPS XPS keel weights in the 8th edition precision trolling. I went to Romanacks web site and he says that the 8th edition is replaced by the new pro edition. I was wondering if anyone knows if the dive curves for inlines transfered over to the Pro edition.

Being interested in physics most of my life, this theory of how a two oz. weight can go deeper than another is interesting. I'll agree that by connecting the weight at different points along its body may change dive characteristics. The same can be said when you turn a regular in line weight around, so the narrow end is leading. More stream lined and less of a plow action. I am not disagreeing, just wondering if cabin fever has me so badly in its grip that I need to sharpen my pencils.:C

Well. I'll put in my 2 cents. I do not have one in my hand at the moment, but if memory serves me right the design with the Bass Pro weights, you may get a lil very minimal drag, such as a dipsy, but not on that scale obviously. They have more of a diving design that a standard chain keel. I have also found them running deeper, than my other keels or inlines. We found this out one afternoon running some new keels. We ran four rods and were boating fish 3-1 over the Bass pro. We shortened our lines with those by 20ft. and bingo we were on fish as consistent as the regular keels. Was an interesting observation. My conclusion was weight for weight they were indeed running a lil deeper. All four harnesses we were slamming the fish on were all the same setup also.

Thats it in a nut shell!!!!! There is less drag with the BPS in-line weights. Just like a snap weight will be shallower than an in-line at the same distance back. It is all speed sensitive also. Juls and I have spent hours testing and recording depths on all three types of weights at differant speeds.
Thats why so many people have different results when trolling. They don't put all the pieces of the puzzle together when getting information on the radio.
