From the ODNR web page:

KNOW THE LAWS IN OHIO

• It is unlawful to carry any type of license or permit of another person.

• All first-time hunters must pass a hunter education course before purchasing a hunting license. Call 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543) for information on hunter education requirements.

• Hunters age 15 and under and those of any age hunting with an apprentice license must be accompanied by an adult. Special restrictions apply to certain youth hunts. See Youth Hunting section for details.

• Hunters and trappers are required to carry a valid hunting license, permit(s) and stamp(s) when hunting or trapping.

Big Fish- Either with the course or without you will still need an adult with you this year. You can get an apprentice license this year if you can find an adult to hunt with. It would probably be easiest to find a larger pool of volunteers at an archery club. You can be shooting a compound bow effectively in just a few sessions. I see your profile says you visit the northeast forum the most. I'am not familiar with anything up their, so I can't give you local advice. You might search the net for Ohio arhery forums, clubs, or bowhunting. I would be surprised if you couldn't make this happen if you set your mind to it. Good luck!

p.s.- If you think you may be interested in archery then check archerytalk.com
They are the largest archery forum on the internet.

i bet i will miss 15 when i get older.
How right you are. I long for it every day when I roll myself out of bed and think of all the aches and pains that were not there when I was a teenager.

Hoepfully you are able to find someone to get you out hunting this fall. I think it is great that you are taking the initiative to keep the hunting spirit alive. A lot of kids your age would just forget about it and move on to other teenage things.

Good luck in the field this fall.

You still have time to get on line and apply for the youth controlled hunts. The deadline is July 31 I think. You may also need an adult to help with the application. A few of the youth hunts are buddy hunts, which means you must take an adult along to hunt with you. If you would happen to get picked for one of the hunts I bet you would get a bunch of offers from hunting adults to take you. Read the regs carefully before you go this route. I have applied for my daughter for the last three years and no luck yet. It is a good way to get the youth started with the special hunt days. They always seem to fall in on some of the best times of November to be in the woods. I did get into Plum Brook a few years ago and it was great. Very safe and very structured. And a ton of deer. I think by 1:00 pm I counted 45 deer. I had the two doe tags and wouldn't you know it I saw a few Large Bucks and had to let them walk................. OUCH. Good luck man, Get going cause it will be here very quick.
