How much leader on a worm harness

Last weekend we pulled worm harness's for the first time using a 2 oz weight.
Managed to put 5 nice Walleye in the box off Lorain.
Numbers were 45/50 FOW, 50/60 back, inline boards @ 1.5/1.8 mph gps.
The color of the blades was all similar, pink backs with some purple on the other side.

We were using ready tied harness's but were unsure how much leader to put between the harness and the 2 oz weight.

A few questions to the experts please:-

1. What length of leader is normal between the harness and the weight ?

2. What type and strength of leader is favored by this group ?

3. How do you tie the leader to the harness and the leader to the weight ?

Thanks

I don't qualify as an expert but I know a little...

A few questions to the experts please:-

1. What length of leader is normal between the harness and the weight ?
I tie my harnesses such that distance from hooks to swivel at weight is my wingspan - somewhere between 48"-60".
2. What type and strength of leader is favored by this group ?
I tied my harnesses with 20# Trilene XT.
3. How do you tie the leader to the harness and the leader to the weight ?
Since my harness is 5' long with a swivel on the end I attach it directly to the weight.
Thanks

i cant help you much with the inline weights, but im sure you,ll get answers. but i like to run about a 6 to 8 ft leader on my divers. so i dont know why that wouldnt work.

i use 20 lb sesguar leader for my leaders. you can get away with a much heavier leader if you use floro leaders.

the knots i use for tieing just about everything is the improved clinch knot, i use good swivels and the improved clinch knot. if for some reason i just tie braid to mono or floro without using a swivel then i use the blood knot the most. but i add just a few extra twists of the line before i tie. another knot i like is the uni to uni. but then i still add a couple more twists for the braid. about the only time i can think of that i dont use a swivel is when i use my floro backing on my reel before putting the braid on. helps keep the line from slipping. this is just the way i do things. im sure your going to get alot of answers. and probably be better than what i do. but for now it works ok for me. good luck good fishing and stay safe.

Seaturd does exactly what i do any where from 4 to 6 foot leader i use 20#seaguar line. In my opinion the longer leader is good for a few reasons 1. the fish seem to hit them better. 2. If you happen to loose a hook in the net, which seems to happen to me all the time, you have enough leader to re-tie. 3.They work on in-lines as well as dipsy's. Good luk, Goose

I run all harnesses on mono, a foot long and leaders just under the length of our rods. I hate storing long harnesses and with the univeral leader can switch from crank to spoon to harness without any hastle or wasted time wrapping six feet of one thing and unwrapping six foot of another. We run weights with cranks more often than not so it works best for us. 20# test mono for leaders, swivel on each end, or swivel on one end, duo lock on the other works for me.
