Hoover 5-25

Chilly start this morning got on the water at 6:15 am. With the resent cool temps I decided to something different suspend instead of dragging and tried to keep my speed at .3 or lower. When I came across groups of fish of my graph I would put the motor in Anchor Lock and sit. All my fish came on the pause got no fish while moving. 13 blues mostly in the 2 to 8 lb. range. I did manage 3 decent fish. Wind started picking up around 1:30 so packed it in. All on fresh shad. The 3 biggest came on large shad heads.

Heck yeah! My 10 year old really wants to catch her first blue cat. What rig and bait did you use? We have a fishing kayak but she wants to do it from the bigger boat - nerves at handling a big fish by herself at the front of the kayak I think.

Was suspending with fresh shad heads and body pieces. Basically a Carolina rig egg sinker swivel leader and 8/0 Gamakatsu Big Cat circle hook. Let the rig hit the bottom then crank the reel up a couple times so your bait sits about 2 or 3 feet above the bottom.

I've noticed at Hoover, all my cut bait hits come on heads.

Usually my biggest fish from a trip will come on heads but my biggest fish I’ve caught including the one I got a couple weeks ago came from a body piece
