I am going to switch from my red dot scope to a leupold 2-7 x33 scope on my 12 gauge winchester 1300 pump shotgun after a battery failure and eyesight getting worse... I would like to hear some reviews on bench rests and bore sighters.... With the cost of slugs it will pay for itself... I dont want to go thru the sore shoulder and flinching trying to get it sighted in shooting slugs.. I dont mind it at first but after several shots your shoulder takes over your trigger finger and you start jerking the trigger instead of squeezing and start getting fliers and second guessing your shot placement.. any help would be appreciated!@

Forget the bore sighter. It will only get you close and you will still need to make scope adjustments.

Since you have a great, solid rest in the lead sled, I would use the following method to sight in your gun.

Shoot a 2-3 shot group at 25 yards. Then, using your lead sled as a good sturdy rest, look through the scope and place crosshairs on the bulls eye where you aimed to shoot the 2-3 shot group. Now have a friend adjust the elevation and windage on the scope to center the crosshairs in the 2-3 shot group.

Now move to 100 yards and shoot another 2-3 shot group and repeat the above procedure as needed and your done.

P.S. Using the Lead Sled with 50# of shot will make the felt recoil from a 12 ga. slug about the equivilent to a .243 rifle....No sore shoulder and No flinching.

thanx for the input.. fin feather and fur boresighted my gun for me since they mounted the scope... I didnt have lead shot so I used decoy weights and lead chunks (around 50#). I was very inpressed with the lead sled.. made sighting in very easy and pain free!!!!! started @ 50yd and had it dialed in with 6 shots.. moved out to 100yd and it stayed dead on no drop 2 1/2" group of three shots.. we ran out of light but I am gonna go back out and check out the 150yd and 200yd for the fun of it....
