Me, my Father-In-Law and his dad were out at Deer Creek yesterday when we saw something we didn't expect to see. I was reeling in my second and last keeper crappie when the unexpected happened. I thought a branch happened to float to the top of the water until I saw the Gar's eye. It looked to be going after my crappie. It was very weird. As quick as it came up, it went back down. Has anyone else ever seen a gar at Deer Creek?

As for my report.... Nothing much to it. We caught about 50 crappie with only 5 being keepers. Two 11 inchers, one 10 incher and two 9 inchers. My Grand Father-In-Law caught a 12 inch LM bass. The keeper crappie that we caught were around 8 to 12 feet deep. The nonkeepers were in the shallows. I was using the Joshy's I bought for the first time and I got a bite from what looked to be a nice size catfish but it got away when I got it close to the surface. We were at the lake from about 1pm to 5:30pm right before the down pour came.

Caught a couple (gar) two weeks ago in the upper end. Went back today and was doing pretty good on crappie till we got ran off the lake by the wind and the damn pleasure boater and jet skis. Man i know this is a public lake and I hate to rant but it seems everytime Im there the tubers and skiers try to see how close they can get making pass after pass, they have to whole friggin lake to use but instead they stay right on top of the guy trying to enjoy a nice day on the water. It just gets old and ruins your day I try to give people their space but it seems like theres more and more out there that just care about themselves and nobody else, oh well you cant fix stupid.
