Shorter leads. 10-20 back at most. Maybe even slow to 1.5. Make lots of turns. The Bandit "Walleye Shallow" is another good bait to try for nights. Good luck!

 

We were out Tuesday as well and all our fish came at 1.4mph speed. Agree as well shorten up your leads to what others have said. All our fish came on p10’s

 

Use your shallower diving cranks, like the P10s, and run them 5 to 15 feet back.

 

Maybe try a Rapala F18 to stay higher in the water column............

 

If you can't catch a fish with an F18, ain't no daggum fish in that lake.

 

Gave it go with the shorter leads and worked the shallows due to the wind-we only ended up with two one being a 8.4 lb monster on the last reel in... missed more than we caught was running 1.7-1.8mph P10's and HJ14 10-20 back. Heard at the docks that some people did really well and others did not.. looks like the mistake tonight was too much speed

 

Speed for us was 1.8-2.0 we did well got our share. Shorter leads were the trick.

 

Just goes to show with all that open water you gotta be at the right place at the right time....

 

Going to tough out the weather for possibly the last time tonight with my mother... We got out on Tuesday night this week and missed the action everyone else was getting. We started in 40' FOW north of the breakwall and worked our way towards and from the breakwall with only two hookups. Everyone else I heard from limited no problem. We ran P10's HJ14 and reefrunner 700's 20-35' back at 1.8-2.0 mph...

Trying to get better numbers tonight and show my mother a nice night of walleye fishing-
I feel with all of the steelhead we've been going for the past few months we forgot how to get into the eyes!!

Any recommendations on what we could have done better and do tonight? Shorter leads? Less speed?
