Chubs on Tusc River

I decided to take advantage of a mild day outside and I hit the Tusc river in search of some action. I spent a few hours trying a little of this and a little of that and ended up catching 5 large Chubs (between 7"-12"s). Before today I have never caught a chub and I hit the motherload. I also foul hooked a SMB about 9 inches or so. Released everyone unharmed and called it a day after snagging the bottom and loosing my favorite vibe lure. It seemed to be the only thing working today so I need to see if I can find another one just like it as I have had that one for a long time.

Anyone ever try smoking or eating any of the Chubs? They seemed to be quite plentiful and besides the frequent bones, how is the meat?

I've never met anyone who eats chubs before. I actually ate one once, just to try it, as I caught it when I was rounding up a mess of sunfish. I fried it in the pan with the sunnies. It wasn't bad; for such a soft fish while alive, the cooked meat was surprisingly firm. The only problem was the bones.

Well the chub experiment is over and while the meat was pretty tasty, the effort was really not worth it. There were so many bones and I have never seen so many bones in a fish ever. From now on I will catch them for fun only and not waste any time with trying to make a meal from them.
