Heard people been marking a lot and catching a few in 55ft north of wildwood. There's alot of bugs out there so not sure how hungry they will be. Good luck

Guys coming into the dock at 55th street marina said perch were dead today. Awful hot and small bug hatch this morning didn't help.

 

Marked a TON in 58FOW north of the Crib on Saturday, but couldn't get them to go. I played around with them on my fish finder, trying to jig up a few, but they just weren't taking it. I got one nice one, about 12", so I know they were perch. When I filleted him up, his belly was full of bugs. I think it's just a matter of waiting out these bugs, then we'll be in action. When that time will be though, is anybody's guess...

 

If the perch are full of bugs and not hungry why are the walleye and white bass hitting anything we throw in the water??? Would they not also be gorging themselves on the bugs??
I will go first - there are not very many perch in the area......

 

x2 on there aren't many in the area. I've been fishing around Kellys the last few trips and got limits. Worth the extra 1hr drive to me.

 

Yeah, I'd agree numbers are down. I'm just posting my observation from over the weekend. I'm anti-netter (not to start that bickering again), for what it's worth.

 

Last weekend in Conny we marked the heck out of them and only ended up with 30 every one I've them puked up bugs I think they are just stuffed they will come around

 

Was in Bula this weekend and last. Caught walleyes with ease but perch wouldn't go. When at the cleaners that afternoon the guy said all of the bellies had zebra muscles in them, not flies. He said many people confuse the two. I thought zebra muscles were too hard for them to eat but apparently they eat the babies which have soft shells. That's why they're in huge mounds at the bottom eating the baby zebra muscles attached to rocks and any structure like a sunken item. Talked about bringing a can of muscles next time to test the theory. Might be better to just wait them out until it gets colder and they start looking for fattier food sources to fatten up for the winter. Then the shiners will be lights out.

 

I'm gonna try a little night crawler tomorrow just to experiment
