Well the dishes weren't stacked high enough to justify washing, the grass wasn't long enough to cut, and the girlfriend had class all night. So I figured I would head over to Mogadore for the evening. Only caught 2 fish one of wich was this guy. Honestly the biggest fish I've caught at that lake.

So does any one out there no of a good taxidermist who makes reproductions?? This is the biggest crappie I've caught and was thinking about getting one done. Good luck to eveyone thats hitting the woods tomorrow!!!

Thats a whopper loomis! There are some monster crappie in mogadore thats for sure!
There was a stretch , im gonna say from 2000 to 2003 from about 2nd week in october until mid november that you could anchor just east of the causway (and you had to get there early and achor to hold your spot) and just lay into slabs all night. Now im not sure if we caught any as big as that one,we could have...all i know is we would laugh at the size of some them. couldnt believe it. I remember one night a guy was fishing off of the pilings on the **** wall allthough your not allowed due to the danger factor which i dont agree with. Joerugz and I were trying our luck and that fella was catching them along with us and had set his pole down for a second and got it jerked into the water by what i suspect was a big slab as that is all we were catching that night.joerugz has a picture in his album of a few we caught there one evening.it was a mixed bag.there were a couple perch we caught there that were flirting with fish ohio measurements as well.for some reason we havnt been catching them as big the last few years. maybe yours is a good sign.
heres nice tip. I built a 8 x 4 x various vertical lengths artificial reef and had it set out from the causeway. I'm gonna say about 30 yards dead east of the east side of the causeway and in about twelve feet of water.hopefully its gonna be a good crappie season.

If your in search of huge crappie try giving Lake Rockwell off RT14 a try in the next 2-3 weeks. The fall run should be in high gear shortly.I've caught my share of 20" crappie and have seen some monster 22"ers caught there.A customer of mine always brings up the 22 1/2"er he caught there back in the middle 90's.This isn't a well kept secret by any means. They're caught all summer long under the RT14 bridge, but not in serious numbers. If you have the time, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.....Mark

PS.........Nice fish Loomis
