What type of lower unit oil?

I would like to change the lower unit oil in my 1996 90 HP Force by Merc outboard. How would I go about finding what weight or type I need?

Also, I would like to replace the spark plugs with NGK plugs, is there a way to find which plugs I need?

For lower unit lube, get Mecury Gear Lube or the Merc High Performance Gear Lube. You'll need a quart and a hand pump to get it into the motor. You'll also want to replace the ring seals for the lower fill and upper vent plugs. For the plugs, contact a Merc service place or dealer.

You should only use the mercury high performance gear lube as it is made for the horsepower of your engine. I agree that you need a hand pump. It makes it alot easier to get it in. Also change your orings on the drain and vent plugs. If you need any advise on your motor give me a call at 330-584-4174 ask for don
