Weird Day On Mosquito

Fished Mosquito yesterday with kseif. We were on the water by 8am. It was foggy but not to bad. We could see the west shore when we launched at the causeway. We drove to our first spot and started fishing. Instead of lifting the fog started getting thicker and it got to the point where we couldn't see either shore, but eventually it lifted. The weird thing was every spot we fished we would catch 1or 2 crappie then the bluegill would move in. It seemed like they were running the crappie out. We have never caught this many bluegill, probably 30 or so, on minnows. I did try crappie nibbles for a little while but couldn't get any takers. We ended up keeping 9 crappie and 9 bluegill. I know we could have done much better on the crappie if the bluegill weren't there.

Looks like a nice mess of fish! WTG! The fog situation doesn't surprise me at all. My buddy lives (sort of) out in the country, and he is always up before the sun! Especially at this time of year, he has witnessed many morning where the sun rises on a crystal clear day, and a few minutes after the sun gets up the ground fog starts to rise, and he can't see across his front yard!

Have had that exact experience on Mosquito. Launch in very light fog, go onto the lake and get totally engulfed! Freaked my wife and young son completely out. Worst thing was, though we were anchored, there were boat motors running about half speed going and coming close enough to us, we could hear the guys talking. They must have had radar to not hit something. That un-nerved me a lot! Glad to see those nice craps and gills are active again!

Nice catch. I've been on that lake on days when the fog didn't rise until after 10. We got there at 6. :D Thank goodness for GPS.
That's the way it was when we fished Monday. We used the GPS right from the launch. It was the only way we knew which direction we were heading. Visibility was about 50 yards and the fog didn't lift till about 11.

I was with Meats52 in that fog. We started out in about 15 feet of water and tried using slip bobbers set at about 7 feet. Caught a couple of nice crappie right away and we thought that would be the answer for the day. It just didn't work much after that. Perhaps another day.
