went up to cabelas and purchased a submergable led light for night time crappie bite. Heard a lot of good reviews. Has anyone had any success using this setup??

No personal experience but saw some guys at Hoover operating under such a setup. They appeared to be having a good time.
Under the bridge? Green light? That was probably us lol.

That said, not all lights are created equal. Some of the cheap ones don't work worth a darn.

My idea on depth is you need the light penetrating the water column not polluting your view above water. Mine is pretty bright as well so if it's not deep enough, it hurts your eyes.

Hands down, best setup for summer time crappie at night. I've been using them for a while and have had lots of luck with them. I have a smaller white led light (8inches) and a larger green led light (18inches). Both attract a lot of minnows, some people like the green better, some people like the white better. I personally like the white, but green works just as well. Only reason why I like the white better is because you don't have to bring a marine battery if your fishing from shore, you can use a vexilar battery, much easier to carry. If your fishing from a boat, then it really doesn't matter. Good luck!
