Bit off topic, but do the yellow perch in Pyma get those black specs/dots/parasites in the flesh? Is it more prevalent with inland lakes or Erie?

I've never noticed it in any panfish I've kept but more than half the time I see it in the few perch I've kept.

 

Inland seems more prominent. Shallow weedy water seems to hack them. I’ve seen it a lot in Canada

 

I'm very happy to report I didn't see any of the black dot parasites in any of the perch, and trust me I was watching for them. I have caught perch and bluegills etc. From smaller impoundments that have had those parasites. One of the catfish that we threw back had some strange looking large black dots all over it. Could have been some type of parasites. The catfish that we kept (20") had nice clean fillets.

 

Went back to pymatuning Thursday 10/5 with my brothers. Caught 4 nice channel cats, 3 white bass, 15 perch. 5 - 8 ft. Water. Minnows 2 1/2' - 3 ft. Under bobbers. South wind 5 - 15 mph. Partly cloudy early, then mostly cloudy. Fished from 9:30am. - 4pm. Threw back a few small perch and 1 small cat, and some 4 inch large and smallmouth bass.

 

Looks like you have one white bass and two white perch....Might be wrong but it looks that way....Nice bag of fish though....

 

Remember when you would see limits upon limits of Walleye from PYMY? My how things have changed.

 

Maybe people just staying quiet? 🤫
