Can anyone share some tips on fishing for perch from shore on inland lakes in the fall and early winter? I've bumped a few from time to time but have never actually targeted them. Thanks in advance for teaching this old dog some new tricks.

I get them from Pymatuning causeway. I use ultralight rod, 4 lb test line, size 8 hooks, split shot about 15 inches above hook and half nightcrawler. I throw out, let it sit a minute, if nothing then I reel in couple feet. I get lots of bluegills too.
When I target perch at an inland lake from shore, I tend to use small minnows fished near the bottom under a small pencil type float. As Narcman said, worms will also work.
Thanks, friends. Pymatuning is my lake and I've seen some really nice hauls of yellow perch out of there, especially in the Fall so I thought I'd give it a chance once the water temps drop back. I appreciate the help.
Depending on water temps, from mid-September and well in to October. Walleyes also start larding up in October.
