The boat ramp dock at Twin Bridges is gone. Not in the water, not in the parking lot, though it was there all winter. Anyone know what's going on?

 

Construction for new ramps/kayak access will be starting soon according to the City of Columbus. It will be closed until late summer or fall. I think they said 120 days from start to finish.

 

Is 4WD needed for the Oxbow ramp?

 

I stopped and looked at it the other day and I'd say a 4 wheel drive would probably come in handy. It looked to me to be just a dirt ramp.

 

i have 4WD but have never used it there..as long as you have a truck you'll be fine.

 

The main trouble with Oxbow is this time of year the water is up and there is virtually no drop off, it's not deep enough to float my boat unless I pull in up to my back tires and then barely deep enough. Take your fishing rod and stand at the end of the dock, it's not more than a foot deep there right now. As the water goes down it gets better.

 

Made a trip this afternoon to check out the Oxbow ramp, I wanted to see it for myself. It is reached by a hard packed dirt causeway to the area where the ramp is located. The ramp approach is also dirt. The shore at the ramp is sand so I tested how solid it was with a 1 inch diameter stick, using just one hand I was able to push it into the sand over three inches. I will have to pass trying to launch at this spot with my 2wd pickup.

 

Measured the water at the far end of the dock only 22 inches deep not enough to float my boat off the trailer!
