Any lakes have open water anywhere in NEO? I need to go boating or at least shore fishing somewhere this weekend.
I assume the marina road is still closed at West Branch?

central basin is wide open as far as the eye can see. was by headlands and the lagoons. launches are still closed though. whats the chance of getting in trouble for launching when no ones present to pay the launch fee? and has anyone done this, this early in the season? any luck on the eyes outside of the lagoons in late feb.? i know in april ive done really well in 20-38 fow on harnesses. all good eaters with a few pushing 8pnds.

Long Lake is from Manchester Rd. Every time I drive to LBF i see it open. I dont know why it's the only one. The Canal is also open.
Ramp and 3/4 or so of lake is open. The south end still had ice this afternoon.

It opens first because the Tusc. River flows through the north end and the outlets from East and North Resv. flow into the south end.

We use the launches all winter for hunting, trapping, and getting into hot water discharges and streams. You just write your license plate # down on a piece of paper and wrap it around the four dollars and drop it in the slot on the door. Most launches are patrolled several times a day and are under video surveillance. If you don't pay the launch fee, they will contact the owner of the tow vehicle!!!!!!

Summit does have some big bass in it. I'm not real sure how many but several
times, years ago (10-12) a bud and I would fish there in the spring and were
really surprised at the size of fish we caught. He move away and I find other
lakes a little safer to go solo to and none of my other friends are brave enough so I havn't been there in years.

Summit is a great lake. No trailer parking, but a good boat ramp. I've heard nasty stories of peoples trailers being flipped over while on the lake or their vehicles being broke into, but I've never had any trouble. All the bass I've caught were beautiful fish and I've never caught a dink in this lake. The new walkway has killed some good areas to fish from the boat though.
