I was very impressed with the fish caught Saturday. So much so that it made me believe that it was probably the best ever catch for this tourney.

I went back and put together the results for every OGF tourney we have had since the first one in 2005. This years was good, but I don't think it was the best as far as the catch is concerned. Very interesting numbers.

I also compiled the top 10 history. Looks like Chopiq and his brother Kenny were able to pay their home mortgage with their winnings every year. I hope they don't get evicted this year;):)

Take a look.

Thanks,
Kim

Nice! Thanks Lundy for putting this together. Saves me from having to dig through old posts every year.

Glad to see our tournament namesake (Misfit) made it into the top ten at least once. The ironic part of so many of those past tournies was how nice the weather got after the tourney was over. Seriously, can you imagine the total weights if conditions were ideal? I believe the Alum Creek (Puterdude) tourney will start a new trend. ;)

If it was easy anyone could do it:D

It is like a badge of honor to say you have fished the Misfit memorial tourneys and survived.:)
Yeah literally! Last Octobers weather was terrible for us given we were in a 15'4 Gheenoe! Which is basically a flat back canoe with chines. So its more stable, but.. Yeah. That was like braving the North Atlantic last year! Even though we got skunked, we still had fun, and definitely wanted to do it again! :) Can't wait for Alum.

Thanks for posting! Interesting reading. I would like some tips from the winners this year.. Where'd they catch all those hawgs? How many fish they catch total and end up culling? We were catching 2 at a time, but mostly all smaller males :( Were those big females up in the shallows(1-2ft?) We were on the creek channel there catching em off the drop in about 12-15 ft. I'd say between us both we ended up catching probably 50 fish. Was good fun!

I thought it was interesting to see this year's results. 16 teams did not weigh a fish and 11 more caught half or less of their 10 fish limit. At the same time 25 had full limits. It shows that the fish were not everywhere and if you found them you could do pretty well but if you had the wrong program going it was dead. If nothing else that helps convince me that on those days that I can get nothing going on the water I need to keep changing it up (location, depth, presentation, etc.) frequently because there may be something working.

Josh mentioned the differences in depths of fish and got me thinking. I was not on Delaware but Sunday where I was fishing we struggled for a few hours midday catching nothing but one small black crappie in everything from shoreline to 12-15 feet. The only thing that ended up yielding fish was anchoring up in 35 foot of water and fishing the bottom 6-8 feet. Everything we were catching were white crappie. I know that is off topic but I think it is just food for thought when we are all scratching our heads wondering why the fish won't cooperate.

I hope to be able to fish one of these tourneys someday. With kids at home and in so many activities it has prevented it so far. I had fished a few of the Hawgfests so I have seen how well these guys run a tourney and that alone makes me anxious to join in.

Congratulations to all the winners!!

Lundy, I see your and Joshys name a few times on the winners list. Goes to show even bllind squirrels will find a nut once in awhile. My brother and I did have a good 4 year run, but we aren't done yet. Weather hasn't co-operated the last two years for our type of fishing but theres always next year.
Wish I hadn't prefished Delaware before the tourney this year. Where we found the big fish on Thursday they never showed up on Saturday. Around 2 oclock we realized that our strategy wasn't going to work. We should have changed tactics earlier than what we did. It will be interesting to see how everyone does at Alum for the fall bite.
As usual a very well ran tourney and see you all in September.
