Played hooky from work today (WEDNESDAY) and decided to go fish off of the dam. Now just a few nights prior there were 2 DNR guys in the parking lot ticketing people that did not have license's I have no problem with that. The problem I'm having is the neglect of the entire reservoir area itself. I saw so much garbage on the ground that it would fill up a truck. Why cant they take some of this money that they are getting from the tickets and least put a garbage can here and there. And don't tell me they don't because the raccoons get into them I've been to parks all over this country and they all have garbage cans. There is a petition at Eddies bait shop i urge all to stop in and sign it to send the powers to be a message.

I don't think many people or even the DNR realize what a jewel they have in Nimisila Lake. Very little money is ever spent to ungrade the infrastructure of the lakes facilities (trash cans, ramps, condition of the damn, etc) in comparison to Portage Lakes. Probably due to the fact that it is an electric only lake an gets relatively light usage but that is one of the things that draws me. No noise, no wakes, no screaming kids on tubes and it's a short drive. I can fish it with my Lund using the electric or my kayak and have a great time always catching something and usually seeing some wildlife.

It always amazes me that the lake continues to offer great bass fishing year after year. There are always a few walleye to catch and some decent size crappie. I've always thought that very little effort and some higher stocking levels it could be an absolutely great lake. I suppose it it was much better it they'd change the rules like they tried to several years ago. Then the peace and quite and decent fishing would disappear!

They were just out taking fish surveys last weekend. Questions were directed at how much money I spent to be there, how often I came, how important it was for me to catch and keep, what percentage of my fishing is done there, etc. At least they seem to be gathering data. They may decide not to do anything with the data, but if you are going to make a case for a budget increase, you need that data to back you up. So, it could be a sign of ODNR rustlings for improvement.

They should be out there citing the dips---- who are doing all the littering. It's like that at most lakes though. You always see empty bait containers and other trash left there. Someone on here mentioned the other day about all the empty propane tanks lying along the causeway at Mosquito. These are just a bunch of lazy slobs not taking home with them what they bring to the lake. You can put up all the anti littering signs you want but they don't mean a thing if they law isn't enforced.

I live in Canton and have gone up to Nimisila a few times, and just did on Thursday before it started storming... the 3 or 4 times I've went, we went to this area right at the "end" of E. Nimisila Rd. and walked back the trail to the "peninsula" area (if anyones familiar with that). I love the area and how its secluded and woodsy, but there is too much sea-weed in the area when Im trying to fish off the bottom... so my question is, where are some other good spots at Nimisila to fish(from shortline), particularly for Catfish, Bass & Carp where there isn't a ton of sea-weed(if possible). Im not super familiar with the area up there, but I did print a map off a sit of the lake and surrounding roads so if anyone can give me the whereabouts to park and such, Id appreciate it. Thanks.
