Mariner outboard problems

I have an 8hp Mariner that starts and runs great but has one very annoying problem. The problem is that after it runs for awhile approximately 1 or 2hrs it dies and cant be restarted until its good and ready. You can be running along and without any audible or performance warning it just shuts off as if its out of gas. You can pull until your arm falls off and it wont restart even if you choke it. Then after approximately another hour or so, presumably when it cools off it will finally restart.
Does anybody have any idea what would cause this and how I can fix it?

Make sure the vacuum screw is open on the portable tank.

If not that check for spark hot. Coils might be bad.

Thanks for the feedback so far, Ive actually had a closed vac screw on the tank before so Im hypersensitive to making sure its open as soon as Im on the water.

Im not familiar with the hot spark "Jig" refers to. Is replacing coils a difficult job?

if it has points and a condenser ? the condenser can get hot and won,t let it fire again till it cools. there under the fly wheel.

So can I assume that a bad condensor gets hot, which is why I would replace it?

yep, you need a puller to get the fly wheel off, BUT first check the plugs for spark. power packs are none for going bad.
