Got on the water about 6:15 am chilly but a nice morning. Started with dragging two rods for an hour and a half not a single hit. Put out a suspend rod with a big shad head. Within five minutes it got smoked rod tip in the water pulling drag and had trouble getting the rod out of the holder. Wasn’t as big as I thought it would be but it was the biggest fish of the day. Thought I was on to something so I put out two suspend rods with big baits and nothing. Went back to dragging and picked up a few more. That bite died so I went back to suspending but downsized my baits. I started getting fish then. Also got a couple under a ballon. It was slow but every time I thought about leaving I got a fish. Water temp was 69 in the morning 74 went I finished. In all ten blues and three channels. Here are the four best fish

Did a quick trip early Saturday morning. Got on the water about 4:15 am. Had things to do so I only fished about 4 hours. I took only two rods ( I usually take four ) and had them rigged for suspending and I wasn’t going to change. I had good bait fresh shad and only managed one channel about two pounds. The worst trip to Hoover I’ve had. There is still a defined thermocline about 20 feet. Tried to stay within that depth but just wasn’t happening. Here’s a pic of my Garmin showing temp and the thermocline. Also my kayak how I have it rigged for night fishing. Good luck everyone
