I run 4 Dipsys per side and am trying to get the #1 Lite Bite Slid Diver to 50 feet down on the number 6 setting, can this be done with the number 2 or 3 ring or will I need the Ultimate Ring Kit.

it takes me 185' to get down 50' with 65# line with standard weight and small ring. just go out to 50' with the large ring and let line out at your normal speed until it starts bumping bottom. thats what I did to see what it took on a 4.5 setting. and it took 185' to bump bottom.

The higher the setting on the dipsy the more they plane out to the side. Once you reach a certain number it may be hard to reach the depth you want without increasing ring size or weight. The trouble with the higher settings is the amount of line out causes problems in turns & slower speeds.

if it doesn't get you down with the larger ring and you go to the heavy weight it may cause some tangles. I have run 4 before but I run 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.0 on my divers. I used my 4.5 to get my depth and run the 6.0 out 20 more feet. but running 4 was just to much trouble so I went back to 3 and a downrigger.

Does the Lite Bite Slide Diver come with rings, or are they purchased separately? The description on the FishUSA site makes it sound like they are sold separately.

Primarily fish around the islands, as far east as the weather buoy. Wondering if I need anything in addition to the divers themselves.
Each package contains one diver, full rigging instructions, and rigging accessories including a spring, surgical tubing, a bead, and a barrel swivel.

I'm not going to try and target fish 10 feet below surface with a diver. For me to target them the only answer is boards or flatline the TTs. If you run the TT 40, 30 then a diver underneath them each side with the same length out, you can cover quite a bit of water with them. Rickerd

I run 3 lite bites per side with the small rings and standard weight with 65# power pro main line. on a 4.5 setting I hit bottom in 60' of water with 225' leads. 30# line should get you down faster. thats as deep as I ever fish.

I got one 10 days ago at Rickards. I asked for it and don't believe he really knew what I was asking for. After I explained, he looked behind a sliding rack wall and I saw several hanging. They only had gold, of which I bought 1 to try, and painted black. He sorta tried to talk me out of it by saying most of the guys buy this...and he handed me a dipsy. The pack was faded, like it had been in inventory for some time.

If you are close, you may want to stop in and discuss it with the attendee. I had also looked at Hi-Way without success. Good luck.

yeah I agree. they should pay me the big bucks to paint them on a new boat and tackle they furnish me to promote them.

listen guys if you get them set the lure tension as loose as you can and still work. i've been using them for yrs now and on most white perch and other small fish it releases with no false releases. this is really great in rough water when you need to set the front release a little tight so its not false releasing on you.

I started with dipsies and was happy but the rings kept coming off. then I switched to the deeper divers which worked just as good with no rings to worry about. I think its the size 4 on the new ones at fishusa.com thats the same size as the dipsy with the ring on.

I had thought a long time about they needed a lure release on them. and even thought about how I could achieve this with no luck. then I heard about the lite bite divers. I wanted to try them but was a little skeptical about the rings coming off. but I gave in but didnt like all the crap with the slide part of the diver. so I just used then like a dipsy. i've tried 10' leaders and 6' or 7' leaders and noticed no difference in my catch rate. and i've been using them for a long time and the rings stay on the divers I have. I know I repeat myself a lot but everybody hasn't read all the posts. but mostly i'm not sure what i've said before. now go catch some fish with whatever diver or color you choose. if I had the funds to come up there myself i would take all you guys out and show you how I use them.

sure hope you find some and give then a try and report back. if you have any problems feel free to email me at micki_pj@yahoo.com I will help any way I can. I left a message about the rings on the owner of slide divers cell phone and left him a message on facebook. as soon as I hear something i'll pass it along. maybe he'll send me some extra rings as a promotional gesture.

are you planning to use them as a slide diver? if so the only advice I can give is to place a small barrel swivel about 3' to 6' above your lure to keep the diver from going back to the fish. be sure and report back after using them. I run mine on 1.5 about the same as 1 on a dipsy. then 3.0 about the same as a 2 on a dipsy. then 4.5 about the same as 3 on a dipsy. might be off some but it gives me a reference to go by. if there is any way I can help you just email me at micki_pj@yahoo.com or pm me your phone number and i'll call you. I check both at all times of the day.

I took my boat out to 50' and with the diver set on 4.5 at 1.8 to 2.0 mph with 65# power pro I let out line until it started bumping bottom. it took 185' to reach bottom. I did the math and came up with 2.7 feet down for every 10' of line out. but 30# should dive a little more. now when I fish I just go by the 4.5 diver and set the middle diver 15' less than the front diver. then I set the back diver 15' less than the middle one. the 15' spacing helps prevent tangles.

I would like to suggest we take donations to get Sherman up here and to demonstrate. We can use my boat if you wish.

Also, want to add I found mine at Fisherman's wharf 3 years ago. Not sure if they still have them. Mine are clear colored(?) if that makes sense.

I also like to add, when I'm running divers in a tournament, I have the captain set the speed and direction, then send down the first diver on deepest setting. (I only use divers if it is 40 fow or more.) I mark when it hits bottom and that is what I use for my ratio for the day on a 3 setting. (Like Sherman described above) My 2nd diver on the opposite side will be approximately 10 percent shorter in order to spread the depth 5 feet or so. Then I set the other divers at 1.5 mark and above the first on each side with about 60 feet less line. Makes for a good spread between 15-20 feet of water for 2 divers each side at around 2mph. Then I run TTs on a board or flatline up the middle. If I get more action on TTs, then I switch 2 divers for TTs.

rickerd arent those things sweet?????
makes ya wonder why ya ever used a dipsy
a little more cash to start but WELL worth EVERY penny in my book
been using them since they first came out and my dipsys have been sitting on a shelf in the basement ever since
like the dipsy it takes a little tinkering to get it just right but when ya do its awesome
i use regular slide divers on ontario for salmon all the time

I just never seen a reason to use the slide for walleye. it easy to set them up like a dipsy but still get the full effects of the lite bite feature. I wouldnt trade the lite bite for a dozen other divers. just no need to keep dragging small fish around with a diver like this on the market. if you prefer the slide thats ok to.

I have run up to a 4 oz bead chain weight directly ahead of dipseys. I could get all 6 of my dips down to 73’ but it was about 30 years ago & I dont remember how many feet of line I had to run. I never saw marks that deep that near the bottom before or since but I hammered both trout and eyes for that sat. And sun. Nearly on the bottom in 73’.
