Had a question for anyone who might know. Been searching online most of today, but I'm having trouble finding much. I'll be in the east harbor area the weekend of June 9th, A group of guys and I are camping for my brother's bachelor party, and I was hoping to get a charter that saturday or sunday, the problem is most of the charters i've found only will take up to 6 people, I thought about a headboat, but i'd rather have just our group if possible. Does anyone know any charters who can do smaller groups, but greater than 6 people?

Issue is not how many they can take its mostly boat size and comfort level...There are many captains who carry a Masters 100ton or more license who can operate a boat and have more than 6 paying passengers on board...However they simply choose not to operate that way, and dont have to operate with 6 or more to stay busy...Might sound harsh, but its just a small dose of the truth...
The majority of the larger charter style boats on Lake Erie are in that 25-32ft range and with a captain, mate, and crew of 7...your not going to have a lot of free space for comfort...You're basically just putting your captain in a slightly more uncomfortable place with the addition of more people...
Your best bet is to maybe put together a party of 8 -10 guys and find a captain or captains with multiple boats....Maybe make a contest outa the thing...

Doesn't make any difference if you have a masters license, you can only run a charter with more than 6 paying customers if you have an inspected boat that is legally equipped to run such charters. I think CoVanna Charters at Wild Wings has a boat that can handle 10 customers. He is probably 25 miles west of East Harbor.
