Fished out of Huron on Friday the 11th and yesterday and the fishing is very slow. We fished from Cedar Point to east of the castle and had the same results. Friday 2 men 5 fish in 6 hrs and yesterday 3 men 4 fish in 3 1/2 hrs. We threw everything at 'em trolling and casting. They are dredging in the river but I wouldn't think that would chase them too far away. Is it just my "luck" or have they moved? When will it pick up again?

From some reliable sources, I am being told the monster school off Vermilion has indeed vanished. So, I would tend to think that the fish have moved off to the east a bit. How far? Who knows for sure, but the guys couldn't find them with 2 full days of searching. It might be time to start getting ready for early goose season for me.;)

I agree with ya Kevin that the majority of that monster school has indeed migrated. On Sunday I trolled from 9a-4p, from Cedar Point to Cranberry Creek and did pull fish. My least number of trash per eye so far this year. I did have to work much harder, deeper and further out than in the past. When the waves picked up I moved in tighter by OldWomansCreek and picked more fish. Active fish were also higher in the column than normal, with jet 20's on shorter leads working best. Dipseys were a bust.

An experienced friend told me when the waves are churning, to work higher as the bait fish tend to try and hide up high. It worked for me on Sunday.

The Sand Bar has been producing great catches of fish. I fished Cranberry/ Sherod area for about 2 hours on Saturday and could not tolerate the trash fish. Made a move near the 33/17 line and nailed 3 in 5 minutes. Finished up the day with 12 fish with 3 guys. Would have limited but the storms chased us off.

One thought that has been reinfored recenlty is that "Last year is not this year" ... Meaning that Cranberry/ Sherod/ Ruggles area produced awesome catches for us last year all the way up to the begining of August. This year has been different. You must go to where the fish are!!!!

I only troll when I have too, when the lake is pancake flat.

It's funny how people think fish are going to stay in the same area for two months straight! Sometimes a hard blow, which will turn the water over a bit, will scatter the walleye. In the Huron/Cranberry area, limits are still being caught, and sometimes very quick. Just may have to change your tactics, and adjust to the warmer waters. I guess thats why it's called fishing, not catching!!;)

I wasn't implying that those fish would stay for months. Not many people knew of the monster school that was sitting out of Vermilion that went for miles, and miles. We were getting our fish on 1, or 2 slides, and went only minutes without marking fish. The majority of that school is either north at the bar, or east toward Cleveland/Lorain. I know there will be some resident fish that guys will catch on the right day and bust them up pretty good, but the easy pickin' we had right out of the river as recent as 2 weeks ago is over for now. We'll have to spend some gas money now. On the bright side, wait till fall;) They'll all be back through, and a little fatter at that!

By no means was I referring to you during my previous post. ;) You're definitely right, it has slowed down a bit, but fishing the shallows w/ cranks has been the ticket in the past, and so far this year!! The Dog Days of Summer are Here...right Krusty!!:p

You got that right this heat is driving the majority of the fish east or north to the sandbar. If you wanna save gas like me  fish the rock piles with cranks early in the morning or later in the evening with cranks and you will boat some eyes. The tough part is finding the smaller rock piles and reefs that are not any maps.;)
