You can take it all the way to the tail waters of Oshay! Just take a good map and have a good depth finder to stay in the river channel!

 

I don't know about that I've gone as far north as where you can see the 161 bridge and it gets skinny 2/3ft all the way across and not worth risking my lower unit

 

The top of Griggs is beautiful. You can hear the city but you can't see it.

Depending on the water height, you might be bumping rocks.

You can catch them any place in that river but it does get better as uyou go north.

 

Once you get to the Y take the left leg. Best to use the trolling motor from the Y north. I have used the big motor but that was when the river was up a little more then normal pool. Once you get to 161 Bridge make sure you watch for bolders just under the surface. You can bang youR stuff up real easy north of the bridge. There is a ripple just north of the bridge and that's about as far as you can make it in a good size boat. I don't know how polebender got above that ripple. You can not even get close to O'Shaughnessy dam. The bad part is its a long ways from the island and its all no wake up there. If the smallies are there it can be fun. Good luck!!

 

Yea your not going anywhere beyond that ripple unless your in a canoe or kayak. And you will most likely have to drag a canoe because of current. This is about a good mile below the dam. Used to be my midnight summer Saugeye wading spot.
