Fished a local lake the other day an managed a solid prespawn hog. Worked through about 10 smaller fish until the big bite happened. Fish where hot on yum dingers in 4 and 5 inch. The big one ate a 5 inch june bug dinger lifting it and letting it drop. here is a pic of the big one, sorry no weight or length, she had a torn gill from who knows what an I wanted to get her back in the water asap...

Nice fish... Nice report...

Looks like she's got some weight on her.

Your brain says, "Note to self, buy a scale."
I do a lot of steelhead fishing up north in my home town on lake erie, obviously bass aren't as sensative as trout are to being hung on a scale, but my curiousity of there weight isn't high enough to get one. I know if a steelhead of muskie(which i do alot of fishing for) is hung from one, it's as good as dead with the damage it can cause to thier gill rakes (sp?), sure they may swim away but I've seen it happen an hour later they float. It was a good fish for sure, I have more fun speculating it's actual weight than I would going around saying I caught a 6lb 4 oz fish. I see you have the big boys dialed in this year, man I wish I had a boat to get on them like that. 5 fish over 5 pounds is a tough goal to reach looks like you are very well on your way to doing that though, congrats.

A safe way to weigh any fish, with very minimal harm, is to weigh the fish in a net if you have one. Obviously with no net this is not possible, but with one, you can net the fish then hook the scale to the netting and get a weight that way. It won't be exact, but it gets you in the ballpark. ;)

Awesome fish, man! If the Hocking ever clears up, which may be June the way it's looking now, we need to hit it hard.
