fireline-charcoal color

I think the fish can see this stuff. I've been sauger fishing a lot lately, and had been catching fish regularly. I changed my line this weekend from the mono I was using, to fireline charcoal color. The number of hits I got after I changed line went down drastically. Meanwhile, everyone else around me was catching twice as much as me. I've eliminated everything, and the only thing different is the line----so I think they can see this stuff. Plus, I've always read that the color black is a great (lure) color because somehow it stands out more in the water. If thats the case, then the fish probably see my black-(charcoal) line!

Has anyone else noticed anything with the fireline charcoal, or heard complaints regarding visibility? (I was using 10 lb.)

i use fireline almost on every rod but i allways use a vanish leader with it about 2 foot long

2 reasons

1 the fish can see the line
2 since fire line has no stretch i have riped the hooks out on hard hits and hard hook sets the vanish acts as a shock absorber

i love fire line and how i can feel everything combo that with an im7 rod and your feel for lite bites will go up and more fish will be caught

I'm no sauger expert, but typically they live in fairly turbid water (ex. Ohio River) and even a sauger is limited to a a very short distance of visability. Sauger feed in these conditions by "sampling". If they feel resistence from a line that has no stretch they may spit the bait. Like the other guys said, tie a mono or floro leader on and see if it makes a difference.

i never fish braid without a mono or floro leader
like others said fish dont see it
provides a little strech
easy to break snagged baits off
the main reason is so i dont leave the worlds worst snag on the bottom, i stopped using braid except when jigging for winter eyes, it is not need for the large majority of fishing presentations and i am sick of loosing baits to an idiots mistake
btw, i cut some 60&80lb powerpro off logs this year in small park lakes, why one earth would you need that for bass?
